A rainbow of color and some new published designs

I’m at the Pasadena Bead and Design show down in LA, selling my own beads and working the Bead Trust booth.

Bead Trust Booth

Aveesh and I have a bit of a female vs. male/order vs. chaos disagreement when it comes to organizing the booth. I have finally convinced him that it looks better to organize the beads on the table, rather than dumping them in haphazard fashion. So for the first time ever, we have a semblance of a rainbow going on on the table, and I am tickled pink….er, tickled rainbow ;)

Oooh, here’s a chance to get some feedback from you fellow bead shoppers: Do you like to shop from a nice and neat table of semi-precious, or do you prefer to rummage through the gems in disarray? Leave a comment and let me know. I’d love to have some feedback on this for our booths in the future.

Things are a bit slow so far, but it is Thursday and things are usually a bit slow during the weekdays. I’m having a great time, though, getting some ‘puter work done, and listening to Michael Franti with our neighbors. The song “Yes I Will” just came on, and I realized once again what a beautiful song this is, for the positive energy in the lyrics:

I believe that what you sing to the clouds
will rain upon you when your sun has gone away
And I believe that what you dream to the moon
Will manifest, before you rest, another day
So stay strong, and sleep long when you need to
let the mornin’ take you right on through the day
And when you find you’re at the end of the road
just lift your head up
Spread your wings and fly away

When you’re lost and alone
That’s when the rainbow comes
When you’re lost and alone
that’s when the rainbow comes for you

-Michael Franti

Doesn’t that just make you feel good?

Just before we left to come down here, I recieved my copy of the new issue of Bead Trends Magazine.

Bead Trends cover Sep?Oct. 2009

I have 2 projects for Bead Trust inside! This is a nice magazine, in a smaller size, so it feels like a book in your hand. It’s not chock-full of ads, and it has a variety of projects for all skill levels inside.

Carter, I am with you on the beady orginization. I like things sorted and in some sort of order. I hate hunting and pecking, especially for beads. The chaos makes my brain chaotic and I can’t decide what I want to buy.

I vote for keeping it orderly!
    Kerry

  2. cynthia Says:

    Hi Carter!
I like order! It makes it easy to see what’s what without having to dig.

  3. Cyndi L Says:

I’m with you on the organization too! I can’t even tell you how many tables I’ve simply walked away from when I couldn’t immediately extract the strand I wanted. Impatient, yes! :-)

  4. Jo Quatannens Says:

I don’t go to bead shows, but for what’s it’s worth, I vote for order! Your display is lovely!

  5. barbe Says:

oh I like to “taste the rainbow” just like skittles!!!
I LOVE the tourmaline slices, MUST HAVE!!!! LOL

will check out the mag too!

    hugs,
    Barbe

I’m FOR the organization. If you’re sloppy with your inventory, are you a sloppy business person? I walk away from those kind of vendors. Also, who wants to buy beads that are all thrown about getting scratched and chipped?..Not me. And, finally, would you throw your precious lampwork beads in disarray? … No, I didn’t think so. The visual organization makes for quick, fast, and MORE buying!! Females rule!…at least, this time….

  7. Marge Says:

I won’t even stop at a booth if it is messy as it is just too confusing. There are too many neat booths to bother with a messy one. I like the rainbow effect…I would definately stop here.

  8. Erin Prais-Hintz Says:

I know that this is an old post, but I have to comment! I love the look of your booth. If I were so lucky to go to a bead show I would most definitely be attracted and have to stop! The great care and time it took to arrange these items so lovingly tells me that you care not only about the quality of your gems but also the experience of the shopper. Tell Aveesh that he is overruled! And I loved your pieces in Bead Trends (my new fav mag!). But when I read that they were from you, it made me tickled since I once sat in a room with you, soaking up your creative light! The song you mentioned is truly lovely. I will have to seek that out. My new favorite is Sara Bareilles and anything that comes out of her mouth. Enjoy the day Carter!
